Project Overview:

The Global Business Experience provides students with an opportunity to act as consultants to the management team of a company outside the US, and to provide the client with a recommended course of action in response to a specific opportunity or challenge. This course, which is required of all McDonough School of Business students enrolled in a master’s degree program, is one of our signature courses and one of the ways in which Georgetown is distinct in its approach to the study of business and management. Since the course was created in 1995, more than 10,000 MSB students have participated in approximately 2,000 projects located in 33 cities and 22 countries around the world.

Through this course, students will experience first-hand the global nature of business. Working in teams of 6, students will be paired with an external partner company, and will help the company address a specified problem or opportunity – such as a proposed strategy to enter a new geographic market, or an evaluation of potential new use cases or customer segments. Through this experience, students will have the opportunity to address meaningful, “real world” issues in the realm of business strategy.
The geographic focus of our work is Ireland. For many reasons, Ireland has been, and continues to be, an attractive location for business and investment. The country is characterized by a well-educated workforce, a culture of innovation, a favorable tax regime; and it also provides ready access to European markets.
